SmithAuburn – Alice M. (Parsons) Smith, 96, of Auburn, died on Tuesday, January 19th in the home of her son Kevin and daughter-in-law Pat after an illness.

Mrs. Smith was married for 35 years to the Frederick A. Smith who died in 1981. She is survived by two sons, Skip Smith of Oxford, MA and Kevin M. Smith and his wife, Patricia of Worcester, MA; a daughter, Marilyn M. Albernaz and her husband, John of Worcester; 6 grandchildren, Shannon Smith-Nicoletti of Johnston, RI, Brendan Smith of Oxford, Melissa Cloutier of Bradford, NH, Kristofor Smith of Boston, Jennifer Albernaz and Alicia Albernaz, both of Worcester; 5 great- grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She will also be missed by her feline friend Sadie.

Alice was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Henry and Julia (O’Neill) Parsons and is also predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters.

Alice was a graduate of Commerce High School and WITI. She worked as a data processor for the former Riley Stoker Corporation in Worcester for over 25 years, retiring 19 years ago at the age of 77. Alice was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping up with all the family news, visits from her family, and taking trips to the casino.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her daughter-in-law Pat, her primary caregiver who went to great lengths to spoil Alice and meet her every need, and to her aide Betty and her nurse Michelle for the exceptional care, love and support that was extended to both Alice and the family during her illness.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Peter’s Church 929 Main St., Worcester at 9:30 AM on Friday, January 22nd. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery. At Alice’s request, there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either St. Peter’s Church 929 Main St. Worcester, MA 01610 or to Central MA Hospice 191 Pakachoag St. Auburn, MA 01501.
