The last week of the regular season for Auburn High’s varsity sports was certainly exciting. The only letdown was boys soccer which had no chance of making Districts despite some great efforts by some great kids. We will wrap up the season for them later this week.

As far as the 3’s go, the field hockey team had 3 huge wins this week to end the regular season 18-0. Also, field hockey, football, and girls soccer were victorious in their final game. Another 3-fer.

Field Hockey beat Northbridge 1-0 on Friday afternoon, and the goal by senior Anna Matthews made the difference. This game was the 13th shutout for keeper Abby Lucas who has only allowed 5 goals during the entire season.

This slide show is from last Monday’s 2-0 win over Shrewsbury. A very good game against a well defended net. We will publish a slide show from Wednesday’s Oakmont game later this week.

Friday’s 29-0 football victory over Tyngsborough was a welcomed change for the Rockets. Unfortunately, their 4-4 record won’t get them into Districts, but they will have more games. On Friday, they face Southbridge in an away game.

Auburn was actually 4-1 against teams in their own division, but the SWCL schedule put them against 3 teams in higher divisions. The following slide show is from the Tyngsborough game.

Girls soccer ended their regular season with a 12-4-2 record and a 3-0 win over Shrewsbury on Saturday. They will likely play at home for their first playoff game. Jianna Baroni scored twice in the first half while Jordyn Abasciano scored on a perfect corner kick in the second. The slide show from this game will also be posted this week.
