Although the Rockets’ 4-4 record did not get them into the MIAA Tournament, they did finish their regular season with 3 straight wins. Auburn plays in Division 5, and 3 of their losses were to high-end D4 teams: Doherty, Tantasqua, and Grafton. The only other loss was to D4 Northbridge which has enjoyed an excellent season. In the post-season, Auburn beat Southbridge, 21-7, and on last Friday, they bested Clinton, 23-6.

One can only speculate what the Rockets’ record would have been if their schedule included more teams in their own division rather than the top teams in D4.

Clinton got on the boards quickly after a dropped kick return gave the Gaels possession on Auburn’s 12-yard line. Their conversion failed, and the 1st quarter ended with Clinton up 6-0.

In the 2nd, Steve Saucier ran in for 11 yards, and Zach Randall kicked the extra point. In the 3rd, Adam Weldon picked up a TD with a 3-yard run, and Saucier ran in for the 2-point conversion.

Weldon sealed the game with another TD on a short run. Weldon passed to Avery Lemansky for another conversion.

Auburn will have a true Thanksgiving Day Game on the 26th when they will face D4 Holy Name at 10:00am. They will play at the Worcester campus of Holy Name Central Cathedral High School.
