The Halloween display at 12 Reithel St. is open for the season, and is bigger than ever. Admission is one non-perishable food item per person, all of which is donated to Auburn Youth and Family Services food pantry.
The Manning family started decorating in early September, and have added a number of new items. Last year, the family also decorated their basement, but this year the entire display will be outside.
The location won’t be hard to find, it will be the extravagantly lit and decorated yard. According to Kristy Manning, about 90% of the decorations are made from scratch by the family. “Halloween is like Christmas to us!” she declares on the “Auburn Holiday Displays” Facebook page Manning set up to provide information about her Halloween and Christmas displays.
The lights are on and open to the public daily from 6:30-9:00pm, weather permitting. On weeknights, the display is appropriate for all ages with just light and music. On weekends, the Mannings jack the ‘scare factor’ up a notch. “The weekends are really more appropriate for teens and adults” says Kristy Manning. Friday through Sunday, there are actors, animatronics, music, lights and fog machines.
There is a Facebook page set up that provides updates, and information about cancellations due to inclement weather.
