The Saint Michael’s College field hockey team went 2-0 last week during non-league games against Northeast-10 Conference counterparts. The Purple Knights downed Southern New Hampshire University, 4-0, on Wednesday and then beat American International College, 3-2, on Saturday.

At Southern New Hampshire, junior Abigail Bowie (Readfield, Maine/Kents Hill School) recorded eight saves for her second straight shutout, and four players scored for Saint Michael’s. Senior Mackenzie Hudson (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton), junior Carolyn Avery (Lexington, Mass./Lexington), and sophomores Micaela Hajduk (Winthrop, Maine/Winthrop) and Jackie Matthews (Auburn, Mass./Auburn) all found the back of the net, with Hajduk potting her first college marker. Senior Morgan Mazanec (Shelburne, Mass./Mohawk Trail Regional) provided two assists.

Against AIC, junior Abby Dusha (Greenwich, N.Y./Greenwich Central School) scored twice and senior Megan Deschaine (Claremont, N.H./Stevens) provided the winning goal with 10:29 remaining in the game for Saint Michael’s. Mazanec had one assist, pushing her point total to 10 through four games, while Bowie stopped four shots for the win.
