Auburn’s annual Independence Day Celebration went off without a hitch, and delighted the thousands of visitors to the festivities Thursday night at the Pappas Recreation Complex. The complex was loaded with activity, from the concert pavilion to the softball field, where carnival rides and attractions created a festival feel.  The main road was lined with vendors and food booths.  Dozens of youngsters played on the new playground that had been opened just Thursday morning.

Shuttles operated from the Auburn Mall all evening.  There were shuttles from the Senior Center and Pakachoag School, also, though those lots filled early on in the evening.

While there were a lot of cars and people exiting the area when the fireworks concluded  – as you would expect – traffic moved slowly but smoothly, and hundreds of visitors were shuttled back to their vehicles.  According to Town officials, there were no incidents reported by police or fire.

By all accounts, a great event by and for the Town of Auburn.
