BOSTON – Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) announced that the Upper Blackstone Water Pollution Abatement District (UBWPAD) has been awarded a $30,000 grant by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP). The grant will support the development of asset management planning for the wastewater facility.
The UBWPAD proposal was one of 15 selected by MassDEP for funding totaling $400,000. The grants are provided to assist public entities in developing water system asset management plans, comprehensive wastewater management plans and green infrastructure plans, in addition to other technical assistance projects.
“I congratulate the UBWPAD on being selected for this grant opportunity,” said Sen. Moore. “Asset management planning will help UBWPAD target future funding needs under federal and state water infrastructure programs.”
UBWPAD serves seven area communities including Worcester, Auburn, Holden, Rutland, Millbury, West Boylston and the Cherry Valley Sewer District in Leicester.
