At 9:39pm Tuesday night, the Auburn Police responded to a reported home invasion at 8 Witter Street. The victim reported that two males wearing masks came from a wooded area adjacent to the victim’s residence and attacked him while he was in his driveway; striking him several times in the head with an unknown blunt object rendering him briefly unconscious and taking the victim’s house keys.

The suspects, who were both armed with handguns, entered the house and assaulted the victim’s wife and her Pomeranian dog, kicking and stomping the dog as it barked, causing possibly life threatening injuries to the dog.

The suspects then stole two (2) one week old “American Bully” puppies and fled the residence back into the wooded area and presumably to a waiting vehicle.

The puppies are a cross between an American Bulldog and an American Staffordshire Terrier, and are a fairly rare, unique breed.

The victim was transported to a Worcester area hospital and the injured Pomeranian was taken to Tufts Animal clinic by the wife.

Police continue to investigate this disturbing crime. Anyone with information about the suspects or who comes in contact with the puppies is urged to call the Auburn Detective Unit at (508)832-7738.
