James “Jim” F. Roland, Sr., 75, retired Auburn Police Officer, died Monday, May 18, 2015 after a long illness.

Jim leaves his wife, of 40 years, Lorna Sullivan; three children, Marion Corbretti of Wilmington NC, Andrew Roland of Las Vegas, NV and Laura and her husband, Robert Leon of Webster; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren; a brother, Paul Roland of Worcester; two sisters, Maryann and her husband , John Dowd of Worcester and Susan and her husband, Robert Eramo of Shirley, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, James F. Roland, Jr.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Frank and Sophie (Yurkevicius) Roland. He served honorably in the United States Coast Guard.

He was an Auburn Police Officer for many years, retiring in 1986. He later worked as a special Deputy Federal Marshall at the Federal Court House in Worcester; retiring due to illness.

Jim enjoyed high performance and vintage vehicles and watching the sun set over Webster Lake.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jim’s family on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A funeral Mass celebrating his life will follow at 11 AM in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street North. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
