The Auburn Chamber’s Town-Wide Clean Up held on Saturday, May 2 was a huge success. A beautiful spring day provided the backdrop for more than 300 volunteers who pitched in to clean up Auburn. Dedicated residents and business owners collected 1.18 tons of trash, 400 pounds of recyclable material, 2.69 tons of recyclable metal, and numerous discarded batteries that were collected for recycling.

Clean-up day partners Republic Services / Allied Waste of Auburn, Interstate All Battery Center of Auburn, and Wheelabrator of Millbury donated services and disposal.

In conjunction with the Chamber’s clean up day, Hometown Bank held a free community shredder day at their Heritage Plaza location disposing of 3,000 pounds of recycled material.

Outback Steakhouse, and proprietor Scott Symington, hosted a luncheon where they donated meals for close to 200 of the volunteers.

The clean up day is held every other year and coordinated by a volunteer committee of 10 dedicated individuals from the business community, along with employees from the Town of Auburn, to help keep Auburn beautiful.
