Youth football in Auburn is no longer affiliated with Pop Warner. According to league president, Mike Hammond, the league is now named Auburn Youth Football and Cheer, and has affiliated with American Youth Football.
According to Hammond, the new affiliation with the Central Mass Youth Football and Cheer Conference – an affiliate of American Youth Football – allows for more local games and more fair competition. “There are no more weight limits, no out of division games, and everyone can play” says Hammond. “Cheerleading gets better, too, since they can participate in any tournament they qualify for, not just Pop Warner competitions.”
The CMass AYF conference includes 27 area communities including Millbury/Sutton, Oxford, Leicester/Spencer, Shrewsbury, Charlton, Grafton, and Worcester.
Auburn Youth Football is holding an in-person registration at the Auburn High gymnasium Saturday March 14 from 10am to 12pm. Everyone who registers on Saturday will be entered in a drawing for free registration. Four winners will receive a refund of their registration fees, one from each division: tackle football, flag football, regular cheering and TinyMite cheering.
