Ken McCarthy, 75, of Auburn, died Saturday, January 31, 2015 in his home after an illness surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend of 57 years, Nancy L. (Lossano) McCarthy. He was born in Oxford, son of the late Walter Edward and Gladys Irene (Strack) McCarthy.

He leaves 6 children: Ken McCarthy, Jr., and his wife, Cheryl of Mansfield, Debbie McCarthy and her husband, Michael Cross of Phillips, ME, Karen McCarthy of Worcester, Dan McCarthy and girlfriend, Maggie Manning of Cumberland, RI, Cheryl Zalomis and her husband, John of Worcester, and Chris McCarthy Hall and her husband, Jay of Charlton.

Ken is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Sarah Paquette and her husband, Tim, Kyle Mignault and his girlfriend, Tayla Brander, Stephanie, Katie and Jennifer McCarthy, Scott and Nicole Zalomis, and 3 great grandchildren: Kayla and Haley Paquette and Bentley Mignault.
He leaves 7 siblings: Armand McCarthy and his wife, Rita of Webster, Walter McCarthy and his wife, Erlene of Oxford, Albert McCarthy and his wife, Lorraine of Florida, Claire Ugalde of Dudley, Claudia Seale and her husband, Arthur of Oxford, Frances Normandin and her husband, Roland of Oxford and Gail Sivret and her husband, Gerald of Dudley and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Roger McCarthy and sister, Janet Williams.

He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and attended the former Worcester Junior College. Ken worked as a Tool and Die Maker for several area companies including David Clark in Worcester and Briscon Electric in Auburn, retiring in 2004.

Ken and Nancy were always interested about their family’s roots, which led them to be the family genealogists. This was a pastime that they loved, which sent them traveling extensively throughout New England, New York and Quebec, gathering centuries of information. He also spent many enjoyable hours riding his bike with Nancy on the bike trails in New England. But his most cherished times were spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ken’s family on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St, Auburn. His funeral will be on Thursday, February 5, 2015 with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford St North, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
