As rewarding as those two wins were, the most exciting was when the girls took first place on Sunday, February 22 at David Prouty’s Southwestern Central Division League (SWCL). The last time the Auburn Rockets Cheerleaders won SWCL was in 2007. With that win, the team will receive a banner to be hung in the AHS gymnasium.

The team moves on to compete at cheer regionals on Sunday, March 1 at Springfield’s Central High School.  Auburn is in the Division 2 Central division which is scheduled to begin at 2pm.  Auburn is listed first in the order of appearance as of press time.

A first or second place finish in Springfield would assure AHS a trip to states which will be held on Sunday, March 8 at Wachusett Regional High School.

The Auburn Middle School co-ed cheer team also took first place in their division at the Chicopee High School Invitational. The middle school team was also honored with the Best Sportsmanship Award that day. Caitlyn Sa is also the coach for the middle school team.
