Auburn’s third annual tree lighting will happen Friday, December 5 at 6pm.  The festivities will be held in and around the Auburn Fire Rescue Department headquarters at 47 Auburn St.

The evening will feature a sing-a-long and caroling with the Auburn High School Band, the Auburn High School Chamber Choir and Greater Auburn Community Chorus. Fire Department Chaplin, Reverend Doug Geeze will offer an invocation.

Inside Fire Headquarters, guest can enjoy hot cocoa and cookies prepared by Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School culinary arts students.

Last year’s event was a huge success, even though mother nature did not cooperate.  It was a cold, rainy evening, yet hundreds of people came out and huddled under tents, sipping cocoa, and enjoying the merriment.  This year, the five day forecast shows seasonable temperatures in the 30s, but just a small chance of rain.

If last year is any indications, visitors should anticipate a crowded event and try to arrive on the earlier side.  Parking is available at the library and in the mall parking lot.

The entire event is free and open to the public.  Come join your fellow residents as we jump into the holiday spirit!

A crew from Stearns Electric worked with members of the Auburn Fire Rescue Department on Monday getting the lights hung and ready to go.  A special thank you to Stearns on behalf of the entire town for donating the time to decorate the Drury Sq. tree!
