The School Committee recently recognized two AHS seniors for their academic achievements. Emily Fokas was named the Superintendent’s Scholar for Auburn in the Worcester County Superintendents’ Association, and Megan MacQuarrie is the recipient of Massachusetts Association of School Superintendent’s (M.A.S.S.) Certificate of Academic Excellence.
With a GPA of 4.982, senior Emily Fokas is currently ranked #1 in her class of 163 students. She was the recipient of the Wellesley Book Award and is an APS Scholar taking 6 Advanced Placement Courses. Fokas is on the Varsity Math Team and served as a Manager of the Varsity Football Team. Emily is also a Relay for Life team member, a Literary Magazine Contributor, and participated in the Spanish Exchange Program.
Ms. Fokas has applied for early action at 6 universities across the country and for regular decision at 5 more. She will attend WCSA’s Annual Scholars Luncheon on January 6th along with the Superintendent and Principal Casey Handfield.
Megan MacQuarrie is currently ranked 2nd in her senior class and is the recipient of the Harvard Prize Book for the Class of 2015. In her sophomore year, Megan received the History Scholar Award. She is a member of the International Club and participated in the Spanish Exchange Program.
Impressively, Ms. MacQuarrie has taken 4 Advanced Placement Courses in each of her sophomore, junior and senior years. She has not disclosed any college plans to date.
