As of yesterday, the Rockets are 11-3-3 after a 2-1 loss to Tantasqua, and they are the leader in SWCL East. Quaboag is the leader in SWCL West, and when these teams met on October 12th, they tied 0-0. It couldn’t be more evenly matched, and the SWCL championship should be interesting.

On Monday, Auburn tied Oakmont 2-2 after leading 2-0 in the first half. Manager Kellie Guittarr gave this account; Monday’s game was intense. Oakmont, 9-2-3, has always been a powerful team with near equal playing ability. Senior Jordan Lavallee, nine minutes into the game, was able to place the ball in the net with the first unassisted goal of the night. Shortly after, Junior Jackie Clark made a second goal, again unassisted.

By halftime, it was clear that the team was off to a phenomenal start. Their passes were crisp and their ability to move around the Oakmont players appeared flawless. Although the two goals were not easily scored, this was their best start of the season. Nearing the end of the game, Oakmont was able to place two balls into Auburn’s net, ending the game with disappointment for the visiting Rockets.

On Tuesday, Auburn lost 1-0 to D1 Shrewsbury, but their overall season remains firm and respectable. The girls face Doherty at home today for their final game of the regular season. Then, it’s off to Districts. This slide show is from Saturday’s 4-1 win over Northbridge.
