Boys Soccer had a tough season this fall, and they finished 7-10-1. They won’t have a post season since they didn’t win at least 50% of their games as required by the MIAA. Eight of their losses were by a single point, and that made all the difference this year. On a positive note, their last two games were solid victories and a great finish for seniors Adam Gillies, Alex Strafer, Scott Williams, Richie Augusto, Stephen Racine and Ian Wykes.

On Saturday, the Rockets visited Oxford on their homecoming day and slashed the Pirates 5-3. Auburn looked pretty strong in the first half, and Steve Froio scored in the 8th minute with an Alex Strafer assist. The duo did it again in the 15th minute, and then Riley Beauregard found the net in the 30th with Richie Augusto assisting. Beauregard scored again 5 minutes later with an assist by Dean Lemansky. Oxford scored a goal of their own in the first, and it ended 4-1.

Three minutes into the second half, Froio got his hat trick with Lemansky on the assist. After that, the Rockets faltered a bit and were unproductive as the Pirates gained 2 more points. Goalie Alex Mularski had 8 saves during the game including a spectacular dive on an Oxford penalty kick. This is one of the images in today’s slide show.

On Monday, the Rockets defeated David Prouty, 6-2. Richie Augusto scored twice while Alex Strafer, Dean Lemansky, Alex Mularski, and Ryan Williams each scored once. Strafer also had two assists, and Lemansky had one.

Auburn Mass Daily wishes all the seniors the best and all returning players a better season next fall.
