The Highland St. Foundation based in Newton, MA has been sponsoring Free Fun Fridays for six years.  Each Friday during summer, a range of area museums offer free admission.  Patrons don’t typically need coupons, tickets or certificates; just show up.

Several Central Mass. museums have been featured so far this summer, including Worcester Art Museum, Worcester Historical Museum, Fruitlands Museum, and Tower Hill Botanic Garden.  Each Friday typically features museums from various parts of the state.  But for those willing to drive a bit, the opportunities are terrific.

This Friday, August 1, The Discovery museum in Acton is on the free list, as are the Hancock Shaker Village, Isabelle Stewart Gardner Museum, and the Concord Museum.  Next Friday, August 8, features the Children’s Museum at Holyoke and the Volleyball Hall of Fame, also in Holyoke.

You can see a full list of the remaining Free Fun Fridays on the Highland St. Foundation webpage at http://www.highlandstreet.org/freefunfridays#.  The page features links to each of these museums, as well, providing details, directions and more.
