The Silverbacks may not crank out the most widely-known classic rock hits during their sets. But their talent and musical passion was more than enough to grab the audience last night at Pappas Recreation Complex.
The six member band used their harmonies and versatility to crank out almost two hours of non-stop rock and R&B. The interaction between musicians was easy and natural, with the guitar and sax interludes providing some of the highlights of the performance. Guitarist and lead vocalist Mike Lynch and sax player Deric Deyer performed several heart-pumping jams that got young and old bouncing and dancing around.
The band’s vocals were outstanding, as was the infusion of sax, keyboard, harmonica and percussion, depending on the song. The guys even played an encore, responding to the crowd’s enthusiastic response to the band’s finale. They were accompanied onstage by a number of youngsters dancing, kicking and and twirling, a fun finish to a fun, beautiful evening.
