Pakachoag Music School of Greater Worcester is pleased to announce that Jannatha Coffin-Malia will take over the School’s Young People’s Musical Theater program starting this summer.
Jannatha is a specialist in music theater education. She holds a master’s degree in Theatre Education from Emerson College; and a bachelor’s degree in Theatre from Florida State University.
Jannatha has prior experience directing and choreographing numerous productions. She owned and directed, for over a decade, her own children’s theater performing arts studio prior to re-locating to the Worcester area.
As an actress, Jannatha has appeared in productions from Maine to Florida including mystery dinner theater, stage, cabaret and film productions.
Jannatha will direct the School’s Go Fish! summer theater program, scheduled for the week of July 21st for children entering grades 1, 2 and 3 (4th graders also welcome). In September, she will pick up the school year theater program for children in grades 1 to 5.
Jannatha says “I am thrilled to be teaching at Pakachoag”. Pakachoag Executive Director Sarah Smongeski says “We are thrilled to have found Jannatha! We’ve had a popular theater program staffed by Christine Taylor for several years; and could not have found someone more qualified to pick up where Christine leaves off. ” Ms. Smongeski adds, “I’m looking forward to the evolution of our Young People’s Musical Theater program. Jannatha has the skills and experience to mold the program in new ways that will surely resonate with our local community of young theater enthusiasts.”
Pakachoag extends its thanks to departing director Christine Taylor. Christine will take over the Sturbridge Repertory Theater next year as Owner/Artistic Director.
