Girls tennis and softball lost their tournament games on Saturday and are now done for the season. The only Auburn teams left in the MIAA tournaments are boys tennis and baseball. Let’s hope they can earn a title.

Girls tennis faced Westborough and fell 5-0. While this looks like a huge loss, MIAA has placed the Auburn girls in the wrong division and has denied an appeal. More to come on this subject down the road.

Girls softball lost 6-0 on Saturday to #4 Oakmont in a game that the #5 Rockets couldn’t get started. All was well until the bottom of the fourth when the Spartans earned 2 runs. They would follow with 2 more runs in each of the next 2 innings. In the end, Oakmont would have 6 hits, and Auburn would have 1 hit and 2 errors.

Oakmont’s pitcher, junior Katie Becotte, should be recognized for an outstanding performance. She is on the Hometeam leader board for Wachusett C for both batting and pitching were she has a 6-3 record. Katie has an ERA of 2.94 and has struck out 100 batters in 62 innings.
