Sometimes the best hits of a game aren’t hits at all. Such was the case on Friday when the Rockets had a definitive 8-0 victory over Monty Tech. The bunting made the difference. A solid 6 innings of pitching by Ryan Kozlowski didn’t hurt either. He only allowed 2 hits, and Josh Boucher closed the game.

In the bottom of the third, a bunt loaded the bases and set up Auburn’s first run. In the fourth, bunts were responsible for 2 more runs as the Bulldogs were unable to handle them. The Rockets will face Assabet Valley today at 4:00pm in Marlborough. This is the quarter final round of the MIAA Central Division 3 Tournament.

Assabet washed out of the State Vocational Tournament last week with a 1-0 loss to Worcester Tech. They still boast an impressive 17-2 record. But if Auburn plays the way they did on Friday, they should move forward in the tournament.
