During graduation ceremonies on Friday night, Principal Casey Handfield read a lengthy list of scholarships awarded to the senior class. In all, $81,514.28 in scholarships and awards was given for future educational endeavors.

But, before you read the list, consider some of the fine words spoken during the ceremony:

Auburn High School Principal Casey Handfield

Auburn High School Principal Casey Handfield

Principal Casey Handfield – “Have the courage to follow your dreams. Wherever you desire to go after tonight, get there, at a pace that is comfortable for you. Whatever you do, do it well. There is a place in this world for each one of you and the talents you possess.”

Salutatorian Cassidy Mackintire – “No matter where our path takes us, however, the knowledge and experience gained within these Auburn High walls will always be the foundation of who we are. Although our lives are just beginning once we step outside these doors today, Auburn will forever hold a special place in each and every one of us.”

Valedictorian Matthew Bissaillon – “If you look in a mirror, you will see greatness. If you look around you right now, you will see greatness. Sure, I am up here because I test well. But there are other types of achievement in life.” “We can choose our destiny. We have many paths in front of us.”

Class President Mary Grace Judge – “As a member of many activities and events, I have had the privilege to work with many students here at Auburn High, but there is nothing like working with my own classmates.” “I am so unbelievably proud of our accomplishments and to be a part of the Class of 2014!”
