During the combined middle and high school performances last week, several grade 8 students were recognized for their contributions. At Monday’s choral concert, Caroline Saltz was awarded for her participation in the Select Choir, and Ana Pietrewicz was lauded for earning a spot in the Central District Chorus. Alex Whitney and Katy Bernard were recognized for their talents with the chorus.

AMS Band Director Colin Meyers gave the Band Award to Hannah Cherry and the Jazz Band Award to Jonathan Marchant. Mr. Meyers directed the Grade Six Band in three lively numbers and led the Grade Seven/Eight Band in three more. School Superintendent Maryellen Brunelle was the guest speaker for the performance of Robert Sheldon’s The Message on the Rock.

AHS Band Director Virginia Bailey led the Jazz Band, and a piano solo by senior Matt Bissaillon followed. The Auburn High Concert Band concluded the evening with 4 songs including “Video Games Live Part One” arranged by Ralph Ford. This modern composition was based on current video games and included a video of popular games shown above the performers.

Ms. Bailey recognized the fourteen band seniors with an award and flowers. They are Matthew Bissaillon, Ture Carlson, Fiona Daly, Tyler Desrosiers, Mary Grace Judge, Jack Leger, Ryan Malakie, Lillian McPherson, Matthew Nelson, Zachary Peterson, Alekxis Rojee, Steven Sisko, Gabrielle Somadelis, and Jeanelle Wheeler.
