Auburn High School senior Lyndsey Gabrielian signed a letter of intent with Assumption College yesterday morning. Surrounded by coaches, faculty, family and students, Lyndsey and her parents, Michelle and Kevin, put their signatures on the official documents. Her sister Brittany, a junior at UMASS Amherst, and her grandmother were in the audience.

Lyndsey excels both academically and athletically, and she was awarded scholarships for both at Assumption where she will play field hockey. Her intended major is English with a potential concentration in Journalism.

At Auburn, Lyndsey was on the varsity teams for both field hockey and basketball since her freshman year. She was recently inducted into the National Honor Society.

Lyndsey said, “Assumption was on my list. It’s close to home and has my major.” Being a Division 2 college, she feels the athletic program will be competitive, and there is also the potential to study abroad in Italy.

Committing to a college athletic program is very much a year round sport, and while she will miss basketball, Lyndsey is looking forward to continuing her field hockey career.

Reflecting on field hockey at Auburn High, Lyndsey said playing in the state final during both her freshman and senior years was extremely rewarding. She gives a lot of credit to Coach Cormier, “She made me love the sport.”

Good luck Lyndsey.
