On Tuesday April 22nd, the District 7 Recruit Training Program graduated thirty two new call Firefighters within the District, four of them from Auburn. The newest call firefighters to the Fire Rescue Department  are Michael Powell, Joseph Hunt, Mark Reid and Steven Reese.

All four members started the recruit academy on November 5, 2013. The new recruits will be on probationary status for the next year as they complete the next phase of their internal training within the department.

This was the 16th graduation of the District 7 Recruit Training Program. The first class ran in 1998 as a two month program totaling 80 hours of basic training.

Today’s program reflects the many advances in the fire service and encompasses training that has become more complex. Today’s program is now six months, totaling 330 hours of training. Recruit firefighters today leave the recruit program with state and national certification as a Fire Fighter I/II.
