Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Business and Finance.

Mr. Gray said that his professional goals include getting to the Assistant Superintendent level, and he had to seize this opportunity. He started in Auburn on July 1, 2013, and all School Committee members expressed their gratitude for his service and wished him well.

Mr. Gray expressed, “I will miss Auburn but am looking forward to the challenges of Carver.”

In other business, the School Committee approved the 2014/2015 school calendar. The most notable change is in the February vacation. Instead of the traditional 9-day break, students will have a 4-1/2 day weekend. A PDF of the calendar can be downloaded HERE.

The Committee also approved the program of studies for AHS, heard a presentation from Dr. Kathleen Lauze about the professional development day held last Friday, and got an update from Food Service Director Janice King who has been on the job for seven weeks.

Superintendent Maryellen Brunelle also informed the committee that the iPads for the PAARC testing approved by Town Meeting last fall have been purchased. The appropriated amount was $108,750, but aggressive negotiations got the purchase price down to $87,912. The $20,838 balance will be returned to the town and will be certified as free cash.
