The Rockets earned their fourth win of the season on Monday with a decisive win over Bourne. Like Auburn, the Bourne team aligns with other towns to get sufficient numbers. Mashpee and Wareham are the partners.

In many ways, these teams were well matched, but the Rocket defense was the deal breaker. Most of Bourne’s drives were halted less than 2/3 of the way down the ice. Nicole LaCroix only had 10 saves during the game while Ariel St. Germaine had 22 for the Canalmen.

A pair of Bourne penalties gave the Rockets a 5-3 advantage with less than 2 minutes left in the first period, and Sami Crowley capitalized at 13:57 with an assist by Rachel Crowley.

When Tannah O’Brien scored for Bourne at 0:58 in the second, it looked like the Rocket defense was collapsing, but they quickly regained their strength and composure.

At 2:42 Katie Mason scored an unassisted goal. Six minutes later, and during another power play, Katie got another with Julia Crowley and Rachel Crowley assisting, and at 14:28 Julia Crowley scored with Rachel Crowley’s assist.

At 3:37 of the third period, Brittany Bowes scored assisted by Julia Crowley and Rachel Crowley. A minute later O’Brien scored again for the Canalmen, but it was too late to change this game. Rachel Crowley got Auburn’s final goal at 7:03 with a Brittany Bowes assist.

As the season is quickly winding down, this was a nice victory and gives the Rockets a 4-6-2 record. Not bad for this developing program that will certainly do better in the future.
