During the upcoming holiday season, the Auburn Police Department, along with the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission and in conjunction with the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security Highway Safety Division, will conduct “Operation Last Call.”

Operation Last Call is an enforcement effort at bars throughout the Commonwealth to prevent the sale of alcoholic beverages to intoxicated persons. The operation will coincide with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) ‘Impaired Driving Crackdown’, commencing the night before Thanksgiving and continuing through New Year’s Eve.

The operation will focus on bars and liquor serving establishments in Auburn that have been identified as the “Place of Last Drink” pursuant to Chapter 90 §24J, as well as establishments known to Investigators and Police Officers to have a history of serving alcoholic beverages to intoxicated individuals. Investigators will then enforce violations of Chapter 138 §69, which prohibits the sale of an alcoholic beverage to an intoxicated person.

The men and women of the Auburn Police Department work diligently to protect our citizenry and make our roadways as safe as possible. It is our goal through this initiative to enhance safety of our roadways throughout the upcoming holiday season.
