Despite last Friday’s 42-21 loss to Bartlett in the MIAA Central Division 5 Quarter Finals, football will continue for the Rockets tonight at home. The original season schedule included 7 games with only 3 at home. This was of great concern last August when Athletic Director Bill Garneau explained the new MIAA system. Gate receipts from home games are used for all athletic programs, not just football. 3 home games would put available funds in jeopardy.

Superbowls will still be held, but on a statewide rather than regional basis. To allow for these games, the regular season was cut short. Instead of turning in their pads and jerseys after game 8, the Rockets will play 3 more games. Tonight, #3 Auburn will face #2 Uxbridge. Next Friday, win or lose, Auburn will play their final SWCL game. The losers from tonight’s semi-finals will also face off nest weekend. On Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, Auburn will host Northeast Metro Tech from Wakefield, a two-year commitment that will have the Rockets travelling next year.
