On Monday afternoon, the Rockets earned their 12th straight win of the season, beating Oakmont 4-0. Although the Spartans (1-11) might look like a weak team on paper, on the field they were quite powerful. The ball spent unusually long periods of time at the Auburn end, and goalie Abby Lucas had to make 2 saves off shots by Rachel Testa. Unfortunately for Oakmont, those were the only shots on net during the match.

The Auburn offense also encountered some resistance taking 18 minutes in the first half to score. Working the left corner of the Spartan net, Jordon Lavallee tapped in a pass from Shannon Hynes. With 6:29 left, Carly Zona reached in behind the goalie and delivered the second goal with an assist by Lyndsey Gabrielian.

At 17:17 in the second, Jamie McNamara scored off a Shannon Hynes assist and drove the ball between the pads of the Spartan keeper. Less than three minutes later, Lyndsey Gabrielian made an unassisted score for the Rockets’ final goal. Another shot went into the net but was called back because it deflected off the post.

During the game, the Rockets had 9 corners to the Spartans’ 2. Oakmont goalie Emily Albert recorded 8 saves while Jamie McNamara led the Rockets with 9 shots on net.
