The Bartlett boys soccer team has scored an average of 3 goals per game this season, and while Auburn held them at 1 on Thursday night, it wasn’t enough to keep the Indians from another win. Bartlett has an impressive SWCL record of 9-1-1 while Auburn is at 6-3-2.

This match was dominated by the defense play from both squads since the offensive play was essentially non-effective. With 8 minutes left in the first half, a momentary break down in the Rockets defense would give Bartlett the advantage as Dillon Murphy would hit the net with an assist by Even Anderson. Although not a good offensive show, Bartlett’s goal would be the game changer. Coach Chris Bailey said, “They didn’t get a good goal off of us”.

Bailey added, “We’re at the lower end of where we want to be this season”. In the end Auburn had 8 shots on net to Bartlett’s 9. Goalie Matt Blais recorded 8 saves. The Rockets are only 2 points away from making the playoffs, 1 win or 2 ties, but their upcoming schedule will be tough. They are away at D1 Shrewsbury on Monday and will return home on Wednesday at 6:00PM for Senior Night when they will host Oxford (0-11). Remaining games will be against Shepherd Hill, Tantasqua and Grafton.
