The boys varsity soccer team beat David Prouty 2-0 on Monday with early scores and strong defense. In the first fifteen minutes Alex Strafer and then Kyle Peoples found the Panthers’ net. Both were assisted by Richie Augusto. The Rockets are now 4-1-1 on the season and the Panthers are 2-3-1.

Matt Blais led the defense in the shutout with 9 saves. Scott Williams had an outstanding game as center back with strong defensive play by Connor Aubuchont and Liam Gribbons. Coach Chris Bailey opted for slightly different positions this game by beefing up the midfield and relying on 3 defenders.

After the game, Bailey said, “I was especially pleased with our midfield play. Our three inside mids, Jake Frotten, Steve Racine, and Adam Gillies, all played our inside game at slightly new positions and collectively controlled play.” Bailey added, “Our three outside midfielders, Dean Lemanski,  Steve Froio and David Klett, are just starting to understand the positions within our system and it’s making a difference in our traditional game. If we can get this kind of team effort in every game and stay healthy, we should be in good shape as the season progresses.”
