At 21:24 of the first half, forward Alex Strafer scored the first goal of the game off a Connor Aubuchont corner kick. Three minutes later, Grafton’s Chris Leonardi found the net assisted by Paul Plichon. Auburn’s second goal came with 9 minutes left in the first when Strafer was pulled to the ground from behind by a Grafton defender. Richie Augusto connected on the penalty kick.

Adam Gillies had 13 saves for the Rockets as they move to a 2-0-0 record overall and in SWCL. Coach Chris Bailey commented, “This was a very physical game as we expected it to be. I was very pleased with the level of intensity and physical play of our team, especially the back line. They are beginning to really play together as a unit.”

The Rockets will have some challenging matches ahead with 3 games in 6 days: Millbury, Oxford, and Tantasqua. Bailey said all three “are talented teams that have some very skilled players. It will be a good test for us.”

The Boys first home game is on Monday at 5:15pm against Millbury. Girls varsity plays at 7pm. Both are at Memorial Field.
